postpartum PLANNING
-
One of my favorite quotes comes from Postnatal Doula Jojo Hogan, cited by Sophie Massager in the book Why Postnatal Recover Matters.
”If birth is like a wedding day (lots of planning, high expectations, being the centre of attention, lasts for about a day or so, get something special at the end), then the postpartum should be like a honeymoon (equal amounts of planning and investment. Time, space and privacy to relax, bond and fall in love. Lots of people and services around to care for and look after you and a peaceful and blissful environment where all your needs are met for a few days or weeks). -
This workshop will address a variety of topics, including:
✦ What to expect, both physically and emotionally
✦ Pillars of postpartum support and guidance building a support network to meet those needs
✦ Support setting healthy boundaries around privacy, choices, rest and healing
✦ Basics of infant care and feeding, birth processing and more
-
This workshop is taught through an advocacy lens, and is appropriate for anyone who is interested in exploring not only the options available to them as a postpartum person, but also the context surrounding decisions they make about their postpartum care.
-
We all process differently, so I strive to tailor this course to best meet your needs. Choose between virtual or in person, either in a child-friendly home office space or more relaxed outdoor garden setting. I will also work with you to identify your preferred learning methods in order to make the most of our time together. We spend time preparing for labor and birth, but what about what comes after? The Postpartum Planning Workshop is centered on the idea that while it’s impossible to perfectly plan and predict, it’s in the planning where most learning is done.
